Tostadas

24 Jul

tostadas3 Tostadas are one of my go to quick and easy when I am tired or we are having a busy day. The great thing about them is they are customizable . Pretty much anything you’d like on a taco would be great on a tostada. This is another post that is more method than recipe but I will share how I made them last night.

Tostadas

Recipe by Micha

A variation of the usual tacos and burritos.

Prep time: 15 minutes

Cook time: 20 minutes

Total time: 35 minutes

Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 4-8 corn tortillas or tostada shells
  • 1 15 ounce can refried beans or homemade beans
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Various amounts: lettuce, tomato, onions
  • 1/4 cup oil, for frying corn tortillas

Cooking Directions

Heat oil in a small skillet. Cook corn tortillas until crispy if not using premade tostada shells.

Heat refried beans and warm tostada shells if desired. Spread a layer of beans on shell and add desired toppings.

The ones pictured above had beans, hot sauce, cheddar cheese, lettuce, onions, taco sauce, and sour cream in that order.

This is one of my favorite quick dishes- and my family loves them. Just a nice twist from tacos. I’m looking forward to trying your homemade refried bean recipe, though. Yum!
