Tostadas are one of my go to quick and easy when I am tired or we are having a busy day. The great thing about them is they are customizable . Pretty much anything you’d like on a taco would be great on a tostada. This is another post that is more method than recipe but I will share how I made them last night.
Tostadas
A variation of the usual tacos and burritos.
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 20 minutes
Total time: 35 minutes
Yield: 4 servings
Ingredients
- 4-8 corn tortillas or tostada shells
- 1 15 ounce can refried beans or homemade beans
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Various amounts: lettuce, tomato, onions
- 1/4 cup oil, for frying corn tortillas
Cooking Directions
Heat oil in a small skillet. Cook corn tortillas until crispy if not using premade tostada shells.
Heat refried beans and warm tostada shells if desired. Spread a layer of beans on shell and add desired toppings.
The ones pictured above had beans, hot sauce, cheddar cheese, lettuce, onions, taco sauce, and sour cream in that order.
